The Symphony of the Hawaiian Birds will be performed on Kaua‘i for the first time in February 2020, and help is needed to recruit teachers on the island to bring their students. All classes in grades 4–12, as well as home-schooled students, are welcome.
Symphony of the Hawaiian Birds is a place-based interdisciplinary program that brings together science, music, art, dance, and education to tell the story of our endangered Hawaiian forest birds. Featuring original compositions, animations, artworks, and lesson plans for teachers and students, the Symphony of the Hawaiian Birds has already been performed for more than 10,000 people on O‘ahu.
Now partnering with the Kaua‘i Forest Bird Recovery Project, the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa Wind Ensemble will be performing this special symphony on Kaua‘i for the first time. You can visit the website to find out more information. http://www.symphonyofhawaiianbirds.com/ A Kaua‘i-specific set of lesson plans is available here. https://kauaiforestbirds.org/tools-for-teachers/
