Andre Seale (HNFAS) co-authored a recent study on fish endocrinology, “Leptin Stimulates Cellular Glycolysis Through a STAT3-Dependent Mechanism in Tilapia,” published in Frontiers of Endocrinology.
Samir Khanal (MBBE) and co-authors, including his grad students Chayanon Sawatdeenarunat, K.C. Surendra, and Devin Takara, published an article in the highly rated journal Bioresource Technology that has attained the distinction of being one of the journal’s most frequently cited papers in the last three years!
Assistant researcher Alyssa Cho and assistant Extension agent Eli Isele (both TPSS) welcomed a little boy, Solomon Joseph Isele, on August 27 at 1:36 p.m. Solomon weighed a healthy 8 pounds and 5 ounces and was 20 inches long. Both parents and child are thriving! And with role models like these, maybe little Solomon will become interested in tropical plant sciences as well!
Make sure you make time for the offerings in this semester’s NREM seminar series! The seminars will be held weekly from 3:30 to 4:20 p.m. on Wednesdays in St. John 011. There will be a special mini-series on “Science & the Legislature” on September 12, September 26, and October 10, which will explore how research can best inform effective policies.
A Small-Scale Pesticide Application Demonstration is being held at the Poamoho Research Station on Saturday, September 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. This field day will cover small-scale pesticide-application equipment, sprayer calibration techniques, selecting the right application equipment for the job, and much more.
