The Undergrads Have It

Several CTAHR students participated in the recent UH Manoa Undergraduate Showcase, an academic conference that highlights undergraduate research and creative work.

  • Courtnie A. Yokono (MBB), whose mentor is Qing Li, presented on “Optimal Concentration of TPPU to Decrease Neuroinflammation in Alzheimer’s Disease.”
  • Megan Gonsalves (NREM) and Elizabeth Loschert (NREM), whose mentor is Jonathan Deenik, presented on “Developing Scoring Functions to Interpret Hawai'i Soil Health Indicators.”
  • Lauryn Liao (BE) was a student author panelist for the undergraduate journal Manoa Horizons with her paper “A Sweet State of Mind: The Effects of High Fructose Corn Syrup on the Brain.”

Congratulations to these up-and-coming researchers who so ably represent the next generation of CTAHR scholars!
