How can CTAHR stoke interest in our students and other residents toward a career in Ag? One strategy is Hawaiʻi-One-Ag, a plan to better connect and articulate the many opportunities in agriculture and environmental management. Another is to improve GoFarm Hawaiʻi’s beginning farmer training by enhancing its curriculum and leadership training.
With two grants from the federal Dept. of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) totaling more than $1.4M, CTAHR is gaining ground in promoting and strengthening UHM as a Native Hawaiian-serving institution to carry out education, applied research, and related community development programs broadly within food and agricultural sciences.
NIFA was established to find innovative solutions to issues related to agriculture, food, the environment and communities.
