Proponents of food sustainability in the Islands are always looking for more locally grown starches…so what about potatoes? Cooperative Extension is offering a virtual potato production workshop on Wednesday, June 17, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.
The workshop, open to producers only, will provide information on the following:
- The benefits of and procedures for green-sprouting potatoes
- Best management practices for field production of potatoes, such as field preparation, planting, fertility management, pest identification and management, and harvesting.
- Pot/bag culture of potatoes
- Economic challenges and potential

Planting seed material may be available for registrants across the state. Information on availability of seed material will be provided upon registration.
