Counter Culture is a ten-acre USDA-certified organic farm located in Hale‘iwa that grows diversified produce, raises free-range chickens for eggs, and creates value-added products, such as cornmeal, dried fruit, and kimchi.
Owner Rob Barreca is a highly successful graduate of GoFarm’s farmer-training program, and Gabe Sachter-Smith, pictured at a recent farmer’s market, is a TPSS MS alumnus and banana expert who works at Counter Culture when he’s not providing his expertise to banana farmers around the world, from Africa to Southeast Asia.
Counter Culture is looking to hire a motivated, hard-working, and detail-oriented person to join the farm crew. Successful candidates will be responsible for a variety of jobs, including field work, greenhouse work, poultry management, assisting at the farmers market, deliveries, and more. Required qualifications include a passion for local agriculture, good communication skills, punctuality and strong work ethic, ability to work outside in all weather conditions, positive attitude and flexibility, and strong back and knees! Preferred qualifications include previous farming experience and the ability to safely operate heavy machinery.
Starting pay is $12/hour plus medical benefits as well as free fruits, vegetables, and eggs from the farm. Two weeks’ paid vacation per year is included.
