CTAHR and USDA-APHIS hosts the 8th annual Hawaii AgDiscovery Program

For the eighth year in a row, the college coordinated the Hawaii AgDiscovery Program (HADP) for high school students interested in the fields of animal, plant, and agricultural sciences. Two weeks of hands-on activities and tours were provided by CTAHR faculty, USDA-APHIS agents, and local agricultural businesses. The ten students were from Texas, Wisconsin, Ohio, Illinois, California, Arizona, New York, Kansas, and New Mexico. Accompanying the participants were CTAHR’s own student ambassadors, Cody Ching (ANSC), Brent Shigano (MBB), and Lian Huang (BE). This year’s culminating projects included an Instagram page to share their learning and public service announcements focusing on different agencies within APHIS and CTAHR. In hopes of drawing in more local applicants, we encourage everyone to already start sharing the flyer with local organizations and schools. Thank you to Kauahi Perez for coordinating the program. A big mahalo goes to the CTAHR Alumni Association and APHIS for their support and contributions for making our program one of the best in the nation!
