ASAO 5 Year Vision Plan

In our quest to create a strategic recruitment and retention plan for the next five years, we managed to sneak in some adventure along the way. The entire staff spent a day together that included a morning hike to the Aihualama Falls at Lyon Arboretum. A few of us were brave enough to visit the haunted seismograph station but lucky for us the ghostly inhabitants were occupied with other things. In the afternoon we were treated to a very informative tour of the Waimanalo Research station, complete with yummy goodies (iced coffee, local chocolate bars, taro chips,) that coincided with some of the same ingredients that were growing at the station. Mahalo to Desmond Ogata and Roger Corrales from the CTAHR Seed Lab and Waimanalo Research Station, respectively, for a wonderful tour!

After we spent the day with mother nature, we were able to refocus and channel all of our energy into a full day of vision planning. During the summer our staff met on several occasions to brainstorm and collectively decide which recruiting and retention activities would best reach, and meet the needs, of our future CTAHR students. With the help of two very skilled facilitators from the Manoa Assessment Office, Monica Stitt-Bergh and Yao Hill, we stepped away with a vision plan that will be used to guide us through the next five years.
