All sustainability-minded members of the college are invited to the monthly CTAHR Sustainability Hui gathering, which will take place in Sherman 103 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Friday, October 26. The agenda includes an overview of CTAHR contributions to UHM sustainability and resilience efforts requested by VP for Research and Innovation Vassilis Syrmos.
The College of Engineering is sponsoring a seminar by David Li, a post-doctoral fellow in the departments of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering at the University of Washington. His talk, “Phase-Changing Contrast Agents for Medical Imaging and Therapy Monday,” will be given on Monday, October 29, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. in Holmes 244.
There are a couple of different ways to see the Symphony of the Hawaiian Birds performed by the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra…and you know you want to! Attend the ‘Ohana Concert for the public on November 14 at 7 p.m. or volunteer to help with the student concerts for grades 4–12 that will be held on Wednesday, October 31, and Thursday, November 1.
The Hawaii Floriculture and Nursery Association (HFNA) presented CTAHR’s Waiakea Research Station with a $7,500 donation to support research benefiting the floriculture and nursery industries, such as development of new cultivars and control of pests and diseases. Mahalo to HFNA for their support of CTAHR research!
Although 4-H isn’t just about “cows and cooking,” as popular perception often has it, these are iconic activities for a reason! And while East Hawai‘i 4-H has cattle covered, there hasn’t been as much cooking going on in this chapter. So over the recent Fall break, organizers decided to hold a 4-H Cooking 101 Day Camp, and participants were glad they did!
