The Honolulu City Council has adopted a resolution to endorse the updated development outcomes for the Aiea Town Center Master Plan, a design plan produced by Andy Kaufman’s landscape design course! The course, TPSS/ARCH 354, was comprised of CTAHR/TPSS and ARCH students. The main goal was to develop a “Ohana Park” Master Plan for the 3.5-acre site that embraces design amenities such as landscaped walking paths, areas for community gardens, a cultural Peace Garden, elderly workout area, children’s playground, cycling pathway, traditional lo‘i, and other amenities that encourage multi-generational activities. This will be the first park of its kind in Hawai‘i; it has a design framework similar to parks seen in Asia, Europe, and South America. Student Erin Chow created the plan pictured here.
