CTAHR Welcomes Incoming Spring 2024 Students!

The CTAHR Academic and Student Affairs Office held the Spring 2024 New Student Orientation on January 6, 2024. The goal of this event was to welcome incoming first-time and transfer students to our college, introduce them to our office and resources, and to help get them acquainted with the campus. Our program included:

  • Welcome and Introduction by Interim Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. Catherine Chan
  • An Introduction to CTAHR’s Academic and Student Affairs Office
  • Overview of CTAHR Academic Advising
  • UROP (Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program) Info Session
  • Breakout Sessions with Current Faculty and Students
  • Lunch with CTAHR Student Ambassadors
  • Campus Tour Highlighting CTAHR Buildings

A groundbreaking feature of this year’s program was a presentation by the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program, to encourage new students to explore integrating directed research and/or creative work into their academic experience. Another highlight of the Spring 2024 CTAHR NSO were the breakout sessions with current faculty. Students had the opportunity to meet with professors and current students from their specific department to ask questions about their majors, classes, and schedules. Our new CTAHR students also received a campus tour from ASAO Staff Member, Chrislyn DeMattos. They learned about which buildings their CTAHR courses will be in, where to find resources, and some campus history!

In total, CTAHR is welcoming 61 new undergraduate students in joining our college this Spring 2024 semester. They will join our amazing college in wonderful research opportunities, engaging events, and fantastic courses. Please keep an eye out on our various newsletters for more details about our Fall 2024 NSO experiences.
