Get Ready for ʻŌhiʻa Love Fest 2019!

The 3rd Annual ʻŌhiʻa Love Fest will be hosted at ʻImiloa Astronomy Center in Hilo, Hawaiʻi Sunday, August 25th, 2019 from 9am to 4pm. Residents and visitors of all ages bring your ʻohana and friends to this FREE festival celebrating ʻōhiʻa trees and raising awareness about Rapid ʻŌhiʻa Death disease. 

This year's festival will feature: 

  • Live music and dance (slack key guitar, hula)
  • Free access to ʻImiloa exhibits and planetarium
  • Keiki & adult scavenger hunts
  • ʻŌhiʻa seed sowing booth
  • Alternative ʻōhiʻa lei-making booth
  • ʻOhe kapala (bamboo stamping)
  • Facepainting/Tattoo parlor
  • Variety of indoor and outdoor crafts 
  • 3D ʻōhiʻa forest experience
  • Screenings of Saving ʻŌhiʻa -Hawaii's Sacred Tree, a documentary about the work behind Rapid ʻŌhiʻa Death
  • Moʻolelo (Story) Corner
  • Beeswax food wrap-making booth

 

This is a zero-waste event, so please bring your reusable water bottle! We will have water stations placed around the festival grounds.
