On November 30, 2016, a summit for
Rapid ʻŌhiʻa Death was held at Hawaiʻi's State Capitol to present a Strategic Response Plan to legislators and the public. Aerial surveys reveal that there are three large ROD infected areas on Hawaii Island: the District of Puna, upper Wailuku River and South Kona. The estimated area of impact has increased to 47,000 acres on Hawaii Island. Surveys will be conducted annually for each island and two times per year for Hawaii Island.
