Introduction to Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources (AFNR)

Accommodations

 

Frear Hall, opened in 2008, provides students with a housing option that combines community and independent living. CASE participants will be residing on campus for the duration of the Institute, weekends are optional. All participants will be housed in double units and share a common bath located between the two bedrooms. If you have a preferred roommate, please contact us.

  • Every bedroom will have its own twin sized bed and air conditioning unit
  • Included Linens: pillow, pillow case, two flat sheets, a towel, and washcloth.  Frear Hall offers linen exchange once per week.  The date of your linen exchange will be provided at check-in.  Please refer to our Packing Checklist for what else to bring.
  • Wifi
    • Participants will be provided a group username and password for the UHM Wireless Network, which is accessible in Frear Hall and throughout campus. Visitors mus adhere to all applicable UH policies when using UH network resources
  • Guests may purchase weekly passes to UHM's new Warrior Recreation Center for $10.  The fitness center is located next to Campus Center and includes an indoor running track, a Skywall rock wall, plate loaded equipment, cardio machines, basketball and volleyball courts

  • Check In
    • Monday, June 12 from 3:30 - 5:00 pm.
    • If you need to check in earlier or later, please contact us to arrange an alternate time
  • Check Out
    • Thursday, June 22 at 7:00 am.
    • Dormitory will hold luggage until end of institute at noon

Meals

All meals will be provided by the Hale Aloha Cafe, located right next to the Frear Hall dormitory. It is a buffet-style cafeteria with daily specials and a variety of traditional and modern selections.  Lunch will be for one (1) hour each day of conference.

Dining Hours:

  • Monday - Friday
    • Breakfast: 7 - 8:30 am
    • Lunch: 11:30 am - 1 pm
    • Dinner: 4:30 - 6:30 pm
  • Saturday - Sunday
    • Brunch: 10 - 1 pm
    • Dinner: 4:30 - 6:30 pm
