Don’t forget to go to the Fall Fair on Friday, September 21, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. in Gilmore Hall room 122. Along with the traditional ice cream-eating contest, this year’s Fall Fair will also include a grand opening ceremony for the new student lounge. Free pupus and ice cream sundaes will be provided to those who attend.
The Center on the Family is hosting a series of brown bag talks this fall. The first talk is Friday, September 21, from 12 to 1 p.m. in Miller 101. Lori Yancura (FCS) will speak on “Tri-Parenting or Try Parenting: Online Posts About a Non-Traditional Family Structure.” In tri-parenting, parental obligations and rights are held by more than two people.
This Friday, September 21, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. HC “Skip” Bittenbender will present a retrospective entitled “CTAHR and Coffee: 1986 to 2017.” Make sure you come to hear how the college and its tireless researchers—including Skip himself—have supported and shaped this iconic crop and the industry that brings it to the world!
Samir Khanal (MBBE) and his co-authors, including MBBE grad students Chayanon Sawatdeenarunat, K.C. Surendra, and Devin Takara, have received a BIORESTEC 2018 Impactful Research Award from the journal Bioresource Technology for their paper “Anaerobic Digestion of Lignocellulosic Biomass: Challenges and Opportunities.”
The Center for Microbiome Analysis through Island Knowledge and Investigation (C-MĀIKI) is holding the C-MĀIKI #mahimicrobe2018 competition, which will grant several awards of up $5,000 each to support graduate students who are interested in adding a microbial component to their graduate work.
