Increasing population and urbanization create growing demands on the world food supply. Liveable green cities require landscape design and maintenance coupled with sustainable food-production and -distribution systems. Yet there is a shortage of trained professionals to address these challenges. Graduates of the TAE program are working outdoors, in the laboratory, in the office, or all three. If you are interested in becoming part of the solution, TAE is for you.
The Tropical Agriculture and the Environment BS program offers broad, hands-on experience and training in science-based decision-making in a range of agricultural systems, including vegetable and fruit production, ornamental horticulture, and landscape design. Graduates develop understanding of complex social, legal, and economic issues for management of production, pests, and agribusiness. How can we feed, clothe, and provide energy for 9.7 billion people by 2050 and sustainably use and protect natural resources and biodiversity? Through creative problem-solving, you will be able to contribute to more efficient, less resource-intensive production systems that conserve the environment.

Animal Sciences is the application of experimental investigation, cutting-edge technology, and other scientific principles to advance efficient and environmentally friendly agricultural systems and improve food quality and safety.
If you want to pursue sustainable livestock or aquaculture systems, care for the health and well-being of animals, or responsibly manage wildlife, then a BS in ANSC is for you.
Train in both basic and applied agricultural systems, with an emphasis on production in the tropics. Learn about proper care/welfare and management of pets and companion animals (including horses), farm livestock, marine mammals, exotic wildlife, and/or zoo animals. Learn about animal nutrition, genetics, and breeding. Prepare for veterinary, medical, or pharmacy school or graduate study in the sciences.
