Natural Resources and Environmental Management (NREM)

NREM Class

Learn to sustainably manage our environment and natural resources using the latest information, tools, and models. Evaluate the real economic value of these resources and calculate the costs and benefits of different management options.

If you are interested in environmental impacts, urban/rural developments, land use, conservation plans and policies, or natural resource management, then NREM is for you.

While earning your Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources and Environmental Management, you can focus on social, cultural, and economic aspects of managing natural resources and the environment in the Social Science Pathway or on biological and physical sciences and management of natural resource systems in the Natural Science Pathway.

Tropical Agriculture and the Environment (TAE)

Ceratocystis fungus killing Ohia Trees How can we feed, clothe and provide energy for 9.7 billion people by 2050 and sustainably use and protect natural resources and biodiversity? Tropical Agriculture and the Environment is a new BS program that focuses on the interaction between agriculture and the environment to answer this question. TAE encompasses various fields to foster the interdisciplinary approach needed to address today’s challenges.

If you want to work with other scientists to determine what is affecting our natural resources (such as the beetle and fungus killing ‘ōhi‘a trees) and identify possible solutions, then TAE is for you.
