2024 Meaningful Experience
The annual CTAHR Ambassadors Meaningful Experience kicked off on April 27 with a community work day in front of C-More Hale. Ambassadors and additional invited students pulled weeds and trimmed up the area, getting a glimpse into how hard UHM grounds keepers must work to keep our campus so beautiful. Following their clean-up endeavors, the participants rushed off to the North Shore to enjoy an overnight stay at Camp Erdman for leadership, team building and bonding activities. On arrival, they tested their strength, climbing a 1,000 ft log tower (not really that high but sure felt like it!), enjoyed a beautiful sunset complete with monk seal appearance, a group spaghetti dinner and campfire on the beach. Some of the international graduate students that joined us were introduced to smores for the first time and as a thank you, sang us a traditional Nepalese song and shared some fun dance moves around the fire. The next morning, everyone was high flying on a double decker ropes course that required some intense teamwork to cross. To wrap it all up, participants visited 3 Acres Cacao Farm in Waialua for a tour, learning how they turn fresh cacao pods into delicious dark chocolate bars. It was definitely a Meaningful Experience for all that came ad we look forward to planning the next on for the Fall!
