Recruitment in Spring 2020 so far....
... has been a team effort. It has been a busy month for recruitment in Spring 2020. Our CTAHR Academic Advisors attended the annual community college transfer fairs, stopping at Windward CC, Leeward CC, Kapiolani CC, and Honolulu CC. Our CTAHR Student Ambassadors played a very large role in our second social media marathon, students from all nine majors took us around to their classes and showed off their programs from their point of view. Missed out on the fun or know someone interested in attending a CTAHR program? You can still check out the stories in the CTAHR Instagram highlights. A big mahalo to our ambassadors Cody Ching and Trisha Nagasawa for presenting and sharing about our CTAHR programs in the introductory ANSC and HDFS courses, which typically enrolls non-CTAHR students exploring our programs. CTAHR shared a booth at the Hawaii Aquaculture and Aquaponics Association (HAAA), a Hawaii non-profit corporation that represents and promotes the aquaculture and aquaponics industries in Hawaii, with the help of Dr. Andre Seale and other CTAHR faculty. Lastly, we hosted high school visits back-to-back on February 25th. In partnership with Native Hawaiian Student Services, a group from Castle Highschool stopped by to meet Academic Advisor Irene Morrow to learn about our programs, swung by the CTAHR Student Lounge, and toured the MBB aquaculture lab. Later that day, we met with students from Baldwin High School visiting from Maui who were interested in speaking with graduate students. Mahalo to CTAHR graduate students Kento (Food Science), Jessie (Nutrition), Sam (Environmental Management), Angel and Arby (Molecular Biosciences) for chatting with the students.
