Because there are several butterflies that resemble the Kamehameha butterfly, we require that observations be accompanied by a photo. Photos can be of butterflies, caterpillars, eggs, chrysalises, or feeding damage. They can be recent or several years old, as long as you can tell us approximately when and where the photo was taken.

If you are confident that you have seen the Kamehameha butterfly, but don't have a photo, please email us at pulelehua@ctahr.hawaii.edu with a description of the sighting, location, and date. Mahalo!
