Mission: The MBBE mission is to provide undergraduate and graduate level education in biochemistry, biological engineering, molecular biology and bioinformatics, and generate new knowledge in these areas through research.

Goals: MBBE faculty are committed to provide the following services:

(i) Teaching Biochemistry, Biological Engineering, Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics to undergraduate and graduate students;

(ii) Maintain and improve the existing undergraduate programs in ‘Biological Engineering’, and ‘Molecular Biosciences and Biotechnology’;

(iii) Maintain and improve the existing graduate program in Molecular Biosciences and Bioengineering; and

(iv) Continuously improve the existing research programs in the areas of biochemistry, molecular biology, bioinformatics, genomics, peptide chemistry, proteomics, metabolomics, and biological engineering.

Values: Molecular Biosciences and Biological Engineering are rapidly developing subjects. So, we emphasize continuous improvement in both teaching and research. We try to teach the latest developments in the areas of biochemistry, biological engineering, molecular biology and bioinformatics. We engage students in research projects providing them with hands-on experiences of cutting-edge research in these fields. We value collaborative and interdisciplinary research that facilitate innovation and discovery. We value diversity in our faculty and students for enhancing our competence and success.

Vision: To remain as the leader for higher education and research in the areas of tropical agriculture biochemistry and bioengineering.
