For many of us, our hale (houses), gardens,
and public spaces are where we experience our most important
interactions with the environment. CTAHR Cooperative Extension Agents are
here to guide homeowners as they make plant choices, which can impact
water use, fire risk, and the introduction of invasive plants, pests, and plant
diseases, among other issues. Additionally, Extension Agents are
supporting the floriculture, nursery, as
they seek to produce and manage the plants homeowners bring into their yards
and homes, and the cut flowers we use to celebrate the most
important moments of our lives. A flagship educational program of CTAHR
Cooperative Extension is the Master Gardener program. Thousands of Master Gardeners
have become trained horticulture experts and advocates. These
generous volunteers share their knowledge with Hawaiʻi residents and help us
beautify our public spaces.
