Cooperative Extension proudly supported the City and County Disaster Recovery Centers that were established on O‘ahu to assist farmers, residents, and businesses affected by the recent severe weather and flooding. Raymond Uchida, Jari Sugano, Jensen Uyeda, Joshua Silva, Kalani Matsumura, and Ted Radovich addressed questions on a such topics as food safety, water quality, disaster-relief assistance, debris removal, and more. Disaster-relief efforts such as soil testing for heavy metals and providing replacement seeds for school gardens that were under water were provided by the Agricultural Diagnostic Service Center (ADSC) as a service by the college. Former Cooperative Extension director and chair of the Department of Agriculture Po Yung Lai, now the liaison to the mayor, helped to organize the event and assisted the farmer clientele with county resources.
