Wish you lived back in the days when elegant cruise ships like the Lurline or the Mastonia plied the waters around the Islands? Get a glimpse of the glamour and sophistication of that time period at the Cruise Line exhibition, curated by Shu Hwa Lin’s FDM 460 students. Featuring 16 items selected from the Costume Museum, the display will be up in Miller 112 through October 18.
Shu Hwa Lin (FDM) invited Ph.D. candidate Ching I “Genny” Lai to CTAHR as a visiting scholar to learn 3D body scanning in the department. A designer of smart clothing, Genny is planning to research and design electromagnetic protection garments for children with 3D body scanning technology under Shu Hwa’s guidance.
The Center on the Family is hosting a series of brown bag talks this fall. The first talk is Friday, September 21, from 12 to 1 p.m. in Miller 101. Lori Yancura (FCS) will speak on “Tri-Parenting or Try Parenting: Online Posts About a Non-Traditional Family Structure.” In tri-parenting, parental obligations and rights are held by more than two people.
