CTAHR Student Scholarship Recipients Volunteer in New Opportunities
As a CTAHR Scholarship recipient, students must volunteer a minimum of 10 hours to the Academic and Student Affairs Office each semester. Since this Fall semester is mostly virtual, ASAO had to become creative with some of their volunteering assignments.
- CTAHR Scholar Tutors: For one of the assignments, ASAO reached out to the scholarship recipients to see if they could virtually tutor their peers in select courses. Mahalo to our Scholar Tutors, Brooke Kawamura (Biological Engineering), Taylor Peterson (Animal Sciences), and Andrea Cesarek (Animal Sciences) for donating their time to tutoring their peers. Tutors assist students with exam materials, guiding students to understand the topics, encouraging students to engage actively with their subjects to build a more in-depth understanding, and helping build student confidence in their ability to learn and to understand challenging concepts.
- CTAHR Student Proctors: Scholarship recipients also assisted several CTAHR faculty with proctoring their exams. ASAO guided for faculty to implement online exams by training student proctors, assisting faculty in establishing ground rules, identifying equipment needed for students, providing the Zoom links, and coordinating proctors.
