Instructions for Oral Presentations

Oral presentations are allotted 10 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for questions/discussion. Speakers should rehearse their presentation and remain within the allotted time. When preparing your presentations, remember that your judges and audience are from the broad range of disciplines within CTAHR and the COE. Microsoft PowerPoint is highly recommended, and LCD projectors and computers will be available. COE students selected for an oral presentation will be asked to also prepare a poster for the COE banquet. Links to the judging rubric and scoring form are located below.

The use of personal computers belonging to a student presenter may cause delays in the oral sessions; therefore, personal computers will be allowed only if the presenter must use a program other than Microsoft PowerPoint, and if the presenter has the prior written approval of Symposium Coordinator, Dr. Ania Wieczorek (AssocDean@ctahr.hawaii.edu).

The Microsoft PowerPoint file of your presentation should be pre-loaded onto computers in the Agricultural Science Building on April 7, 2017. Click here to check file drop-off instructions and schedule.

Please do not go to the UHM Center for Instructional Support for help in making presentations. Contact your faculty mentor or department chair for assistance.

Reminder:  if your submission form and abstract is received after the submission deadline (March 3, 2017), you will be accommodated on a space available basis. Late abstracts (oral and poster) will not be included in the printed Symposium program.
