Dr. Olaitan Adeleke received a Summer 2026 Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) award for a project exploring sustainable approaches to electronic textiles through indigenous textile traditions. The project focuses on how traditional Pacific tapa/kapa cloth practices can inspire environmentally conscious electronic textile design and wearable technology applications.
The research will investigate ways to integrate simple electronic functionalities into natural and biodegradable textile materials while emphasizing sustainability, repairability, and cultural awareness in e-textile development.
