All attendees will need to provide their own transportation to the tour site, water and snacks.  Covered shoes, long pants, sleeved tops, water bottles and sun protection are recommended. We are pleased to have you join us on a tour of Bayer Crop Science at Lower Kunia. The Bayer Crop Science Lower Kunia Hawaii site is integrated into the breeding pipeline; we grow the seed that will eventually be released as improved cultivars for farmers across the globe. We are focused on connecting early-stage breeding processes to later stage breeding processes. Here we produce corn and soy, and on this tour you will learn about our in-crop processes such as pollination, harvest, and irrigation, as well as our out-of-season processes such as cover crops, land rotation, and agronomic trialing. The rich history of agriculture on this site will also be discussed, as well as our part in island-wide soil and water conservation efforts, pollinator habitat creation, and social efforts such as the creation of the Honouliuli National Historic Site. Come join us to discover our mission of Health for All, Hunger for None. *Participants will be asked to complete a waiver form as well as provide information for a low-level security check.

Hawai’i Agriculture Research Center

The Hawai’i Agriculture Research Center is a nonprofit entity with a mission to support a viable agricultural sector by researching and applying relevant science and technology to achieve practical solutions and identify new agricultural opportunities. This walking tour will take participants in and around HARC's main facility with stops to explore their new outdoor nursery area as well as their new learning center for educational programs.

HFC was the first to culture and sell the Chinese catfish in Hawaii and, subsequently, became the first vendors to sell live fish at the City and County of Honolulu's Farmer’s Markets. For the last 25 years, HFC has successfully operated off the grid on the North Shore, raising its North Shore Tilapia in floating cages located in a deep spring-fed pond. Join owner Ron Weidenbach on this special tour of his extraordinary fish farm tucked away in the sunken quarry behind Dillingham airfield.

Visit Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation’s home! In 2019, KHF acquired 8 acres in the heart of Haleʻiwa on the North Shore of Oʻahu where we created the Kōkua Learning Farm. This is an educational and agricultural destination, inspiring learners of all ages to actively support their local food systems. On the tour, you will visit each zone of the Kōkua Learning Farm, including the Constructed Native Wetland, Bee Observation Station & Apiary, Orchard, Bioswale, Production Rows, Kalo Library and ʻĀINA In Schools Demonstration Gardens, to learn about each of its unique features. We will end our tour at our mission-aligned storefront, the Kōokua General Store, a bulk, refill, and low-waste lifestyle product store. *Participants must complete a waiver form.
