Bunch Back Against Bunchy Top

Those planning to attend the Maui Banana Macropropagation workshop should be aware that it has been postponed due to weather conditions. The new time and date are Tuesday, October 16, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Kula Ag Park Lot #16. Register here for the rescheduled Maui workshop. The original story is below.

Banana plants grow from keiki, and virus-infected banana plants produce virus-infected keiki. And what do you do then? Attend the Banana Macropropagation Workshop, Part I, and learn how to propagate healthy, disease-free banana plants using macropropagation techniques! This field day will cover identification and management of Banana Bunchy Top Virus (BBTV), a demonstration of rapid BBTV detection using AmplifyRP® Acceler8® test kits, and propagation of clean banana plants through macropropagation. It will be held at the following locations: Kula Ag Park Lot #16 on Maui (see above); Komohana Research and Extension Center in Hilo on Hawai‘i Island on Monday, September 24, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.; and at the Poamoho Research Station on O‘ahu on Thursday, September 27, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Don’t delay—macropropagate today!
