AGVENTURE HAS BEEN AN ADVENTURE!

AGVENTURE HAS BEEN AN ADVENTURE!
An ‘olelo no‘eau reminds us, “‘A‘ohe pau ka ‘ike i ka halau ho‘okahi—All knowledge is not learned in just one school.” This quote aptly encapsulates the 4-H AGventure program, which has just concluded its fifth year. For the past year or so, over a thousand 4th-graders have had an opportunity to learn about Hawai‘i’s agriculture from the best of the best. Hawai‘i County Extension agent Becky Settlage says that the 4-H AGventure programs owe their success to the support, dedication, and time given by the 50-plus volunteers from groups like USDA PBARC, USDA FSA, Hawai‘i Department of Ag, NRCS, CTAHR, UH-Hilo, East Hawai‘i Master Gardeners, 4-H, The Bee Company, the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, and others. Photos from this year’s program can be found on the East Hawai‘i 4-H & Hawai‘i County 4-H Livestock Facebook page.
