USDA provides financial assistance to agriculture

Get Your CFAP On

Growers and agricultural producers have been hit hard by COVID-19. Fortunately, a number of resources out there can help. Check this out:

USDA is providing critical support to farmers and ranchers through the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP). CFAP offers vital financial assistance to producers of agricultural commodities that can give them the ability to absorb sales declines and increased marketing costs associated with the pandemic.

USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) and Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) administer the program. FSA is accepting applications for CFAP from May 26 to August 28, 2020.

The program is open to eligible producers of specified agricultural commodities who have suffered a five percent-or-greater price decline as a result of the pandemic. Those who face substantial increases to marketing costs for inventories also are eligible for CFAP payments. The specified commodities include certain specialty crops—including papaya, avocados, cabbage, sweet corn, green onions, and other local crops—non-specialty crops, wool, dairy, and livestock.
