Over 40 participants attended Swine AI School, put on by Extension agent Mike DuPonte, specialist Halina Zaleski (HNFAS), and MS student Brittany Castle in Hilo. It included an overview of the Hawai‘i Pork Industry Association, a presentation on animal care and use protocols, a discussion of a swine breeding program for Hawai‘i, an update on pig health on the Big Island, and a hands-on workshop in artificial insemination. And a swine time was had by all!
