A handful of lucky Fashion Design and Merchandising students travelled to attend Magic, the premier couture and fashion industry event held yearly in Las Vegas. FDM professor Andy Reilly escorted the students, who got to see lavish displays, attend seminars, and meet and mingle with some of fashion’s brightest stars. These images tell the story in the students’ own words.
Calling all FDM majors and minors: Check out this contest to create a design that illustrates the college’s impact and diversity and looks great! Win great prizes and big bragging rights! CTAHR is going to be making new shirts and other apparel that will allow faculty, staff, students, and friends to represent the college.
Several CTAHR students participated in the recent UH Manoa Undergraduate Showcase, an academic conference that highlights undergraduate research and creative work. Congratulations to these up-and-coming researchers who so ably represent the next generation of CTAHR scholars!
Chynna Chun, a freshman in the Tropical Agriculture & Environment major and treasurer for the Hawai‘i chapter of the Future Farmers of America, recently competed at the 92nd National FFA Convention in Indianapolis. Competing with the best-prepared public-speaking competitors in the nation, she triumphed with a bronze medal for her speech on the importance of advocating for Hawai‘i agricultural issues, including food insecurity, unused farmlands, and the lack of young farmers in the state.
The Landscape Industry Council of Hawaii (LICH) is again inviting undergraduate and graduate students to submit abstracts for this year’s Student Poster Session at the LICH Green Industry Conference and Tradeshow, which will be held on October 14 at the Hawaii Convention Center. LICH is looking for research abstracts with relevant applications to landscaping and the landscape industry in Hawai‘i.
