The students of FDM 437, which focuses on creating a small business start-up, will be hosting their annual marketplace on November 15th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Campus Center, right across from Jamba Juice. Come shop and support student-made products, ranging from handmade kimonos to dresses to other delightful items. Shop for Christmas or just indulge yourself! Wish you lived back in the days when elegant cruise ships like the Lurline or the Mastonia plied the waters around the Islands? Get a glimpse of the glamour and sophistication of that time period at the Cruise Line exhibition, curated by Shu Hwa Lin’s FDM 460 students. Featuring 16 items selected from the Costume Museum, the display will be up in Miller 112 through October 18.
Shu Hwa Lin (FDM) invited Ph.D. candidate Ching I “Genny” Lai to CTAHR as a visiting scholar to learn 3D body scanning in the department. A designer of smart clothing, Genny is planning to research and design electromagnetic protection garments for children with 3D body scanning technology under Shu Hwa’s guidance.
Fashion Design and Merchandising Associate Professor Andrew Reilly is president-elect of the Textile and Apparel Programs Accreditation Commission, which serves as the accrediting body for collegiate programs in textiles and apparel.
