FDM alumna’s fashion-forward scrubs benefit Hawaiʻi Food Bank

Fashion Fights COVID

Want to social distance at the absolute height of Island design? Feel good knowing that 20% of net proceeds will be donated to the Hawai‘i Food Bank?

Then visit Fighting Eel’s new line of unique local-print scrubs and face masks. Fashion Design and Merchandising alumna Lan Chung, co-founder of the iconic local fashion brand, is determined to give back to the community, as she recently shared with the UH Alumni Association.

In the interview, Lan tells about how COVID-19 has affected her business and her life, and what she’s doing to help. Although she’s moved to an online-only business model, the company was able to get a PPP loan so they can continue paying their employees. And customers are still loving Fighting Eel’s brand of relaxed, flattering local fashion. In fact, many of their one-of-a-kind pieces are sold out!

Lan has also been giving virtual cooking demonstrations to keep her customers engaged and learning, and featuring her family in her social media posts.
