Phytobiome Fun

UH Manoa first Plant Sciences Symposium was held at the UH Manoa Innovation Lab (iLab) with the theme Phytobiomes for Sustainable Agriculture. The student-run symposium was sponsored by CTAHR and DuPont Pioneer. Featured speakers included CTAHR’s Nhu Nguyen (Tropical Plant and Soils Sciences), Anthony Amend from the UH Department of Botany; Linda Kinkel, University of Minnesota; Gary Felton, Penn State University; and Eugenia Munaro, DuPont Pioneer. Students competed for UHM Bookstore gift cards in the poster presentation competition—the winners were Joey Ooka (Molecular Biosciences and Bioengineering) in first place, Dylan Oates (Tropical Plant and Soil Sciences) in second and Justin Calpito (Human Nutrition, Food and Animal Sciences) in third. If you’re interested in being on the 2019 committee to make the next symposium just as great, please complete the bottom portion of this Google form.
