Elder Affairs Advisor

Sarah Yuan has been re-appointed to the State’s Policy Advisory Board for Elder Affairs for a second four-year term. The board’s main role is to advise the director of the Executive Office on Aging on policies, programs, and other issues concerning the well-being of older adults in Hawai‘i.

In the past four years, the Center on the Family assistant specialist has worked with the board members and other community groups to successfully advocate for funding and legislation to meet the rising needs for long-term support services, protect the safety and quality of life for frail seniors, and promote healthy aging.

The board is composed of 14 governor-appointed and 8 ex-officio members selected for “their ability to make contributions to the solution of problems relating to aging.”
