Fall 2022 marked the first semester stepping foot on campus for not only our freshman year students, but for many of our sophomore and transfer students. CTAHR wanted to welcome everyone back in a big way by holding events on events on events! Starting with the college’s New Student Orientation on August 16th. The students were introduced to the college through a presentation and talk from the Interim Dean Dr. Ania Wieczorek, the Academic and Student Affairs staff, as well as enjoyed a talk from Dr. Mehana Vaughan. The fresh faces were able to meet with faculty across CTAHR’s nine different undergraduate programs as well as take part in a service project where new students and student ambassadors spruced up the Biomed Courtyard for the new semester! On October 21st, teams of 3 will take to the green at Pearl Country Club to enjoy a fun filled afternoon of golf, food, beverages and prizes gallore.  Thanks to generous donations, CTAHR will be represented by a student team sponsored by Interim Dean Ania Wieczorek and a Faculty & Extension team sponsored by Aloun Farms.

The year 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of Title IX. CTAHR’s ASAO and the Office of Title IX hosted a panel discussion earlier this month, on September 16th, 2022. Title IX covers all complaints of sexual misconduct, which include: sexual assault, sexual harassment, gender-based harassment, stalking, dating and domestic violence, and more. This anonymous virtual webinar served as an opportunity to listen to our community about what Title IX issues are most relevant and concerning on our campus.

The Ag Conference is back on September 27th and 28th at the Hawai'i Convention Center and it’s better than ever! Why? Because CTAHR will be there. 😎The college will have a booth open on both days of the conference and will be hosting an exciting panel on the adaptation and innovation that CTAHR has taken part in through its over 100 year history and through the pandemic. The session will also highlight some of the inventive projects and research that has taken place to bring solutions through the collaborative efforts of CTAHR faculty, extension agents, and Hawai'i farmers and will be taking place on Wednesday, the 28th, from 1:15 - 3:30 PM.

On April 2nd, the 2022 in-person Manoa Experience event brought 2,914 prospective and admitted students and their families to the Manoa campus to learn about CTAHR's undergraduate programs.  Mahalo to everyone who spent time preparing for and working at the Manoa Experience event! Although the last two years have been a blur with Manoa Experience being on hiatus, it is impressive how CTAHR can continue to pivot as needed to share how amazing CTAHR is!
