Welcome from the Department Chair

As undergraduate and graduate students in Molecular Biosciences and Bioengineering, you have a tremendous opportunity!  We have entered a revolutionary period of the biomolecule.  You are embarking on the exciting training that will open doors and solidify your future. No field of science is moving faster or has more potential beneficial impacts for our society. There have never been more choices, tools, and rapid advancements breaking out everywhere within the field and across disciplines. We are understanding how whole genomes function, how cellular growth is regulated, how molecules can be bioengineered into novel structural materials, biosensors and biofuels, how simple molecules (such as peptides) regulate sophisticated metabolic networks, how new drugs and antibodies can be made to combat viruses and bacteria, and how proteins fold in the right way out of millions of wrong possibilities.  Along with this growth, the career options continue to expand rapidly in academia and the biotechnology industry. The distinguished faculty and staff in the Department of Molecular Biosciences and Bioengineering are committed to your goals; providing the instruction, training, supervision, and encouragement as mentors and colleagues to allow you to succeed.

Explore these department web pages and begin your journey to new educational experiences, career options and conducting cutting-edge scientific research in Molecular Biosciences and Bioengineering.
